Battleship online

The good old naval battle, on a 10 × 10 grid (columns A-J, rows 1-10). The first to sink the whole enemy fleet wins.

1. Place your fleet in secret, at the same time as your opponent: pick a ship and tap the bow square, or drag it. Rotate it with the button or the R key, or press “Random”. When everything is placed, “Ready!”.
2. Ships go horizontally or vertically, without overlapping and, with the Spanish rule, without touching, not even diagonally.
3. Take turns firing at a square of the enemy waters. You’ll hear miss, hit (you struck a ship) or sunk (you hit every square of it).
4. With “hit, fire again” on, you keep shooting while you hit.
5. Sunk ships are revealed on the enemy board. If ships can’t touch, the squares around them are marked as safe water.

Tips and options

• Fleets: classic (5, 4, 3, 3 and 2), Spanish (one 4, two 3s, three 2s and four 1-square boats) or quick (4, 3, 2 and 2).
• If your time runs out while placing, your fleet is placed at random; while firing, the server fires for you at a random square. Three times in a row without firing and you lose.
• In ranked games you win or lose Elo; in rooms with friends you don’t.
