The Impostor: online party game
The party game about finding the liar: everyone gets the same word except the impostor, who only knows the category. Clues in turns, debate in the chat and a vote. Perfect for get-togethers and video calls, everyone on their own phone.
- Players: 3 to 12
- Elo-ranked games: No, played with friends
How to play: The Impostor
Everyone gets the same secret word… except the impostor, who only knows the category. Unmask them before they get away with it.
- Look at your card without anyone seeing it: you’ll get the word (with its picture) or find out you are the impostor.
- Clue round: taking turns, everyone writes a short clue about the word. Without saying it, and without being so obvious that the impostor guesses it.
- Debate in the chat: which clue sounded off?
- Vote: the most voted player is out and it’s revealed whether they were the impostor. A tie or a blank majority: nobody leaves.
- If the impostor is caught, they get one last chance: if they guess the word, they still win.
Tips and options
- The impostor wins by surviving every vote or when there are as many impostors as innocents.
- If enabled, the impostor can risk a guess at any time: if wrong, they give themselves away.
- The host chooses categories (every Pokémon generation included), the number of impostors and the timers, and can add their own words.
Everyone knows the word… except one. Who’s lying?
