How to play: Monsters
Match three or more identical monsters. Solo, beat the Adventure levels; in the Duel, pick your team, share the board with your opponent and knock out their monsters.
- Swipe a monster towards a neighbour (or tap one and then the other) to swap them. It only counts if it makes a line of 3 or more; otherwise they swap back.
- Monsters in the line pop, the ones above fall and new ones come in from the top. If they fall into another line, combo! Each link is worth more.
- 4 in a line: a striped monster, which clears its row or column. L or T shape: a bomb, which blows up a 3×3 area. 5 in a line: a rainbow, which clears a whole species when swapped.
- Swap two specials with each other for a huge combo: striped + striped makes a cross, striped + bomb three rows and three columns, bomb + bomb a 5×5, and rainbow + special turns a whole species.
- Adventure: each level asks for something (points, popping a species, clearing jelly, breaking ice or bringing down chests) in a number of moves. Earn 1 to 3 stars depending on your score; each level beaten unlocks the next.
- Duel: first you each pick 2 monsters (taking turns, no repeats). Each one has an ability: Fueguito burns, Gotita heals, Musguito shields, Rayito throws lightning, Bruji drains life and Calabacín throws pumpkin bombs.
- Each turn you get 2 moves; making 4 or more in a line (or an L or T) gives you an extra move. Every monster you pop takes life from your opponent, and those of your monsters’ types charge their ability, which fires on its own when full.
- Berries fall onto the board: pop something next to one to collect it. With 2 berries one of your monsters evolves (up to 3 stages): it charges faster and hits harder.
Tips and options
- Look low: what pops at the bottom of the board moves everything above it and sets off more cascades.
- Ice breaks by popping monsters next to it; jelly, by popping them on top of it. Chests come down when what’s underneath them pops.
- If you go a while without moving, two monsters wiggle to give you a hint. If no moves are left, the board shuffles itself.
- In the Duel, if your time runs out a random swap is played for you. Whoever leaves the opponent without life wins, or whoever has the most after the rounds. The ranked Duel changes your Elo; the Adventure and rooms with friends don’t.
Match monsters three at a time, chain combos and win the duel.
